The following timeline is aimed at giving you a rough sketch of the ASE Bachelor Project period and workload. Also consult the expectations and requirements page to better understand what is expected of you. When the project starts, a more detailed page will be published with exact dates and more information on what is required.

January 13th 12:45 2024 (location TBA) | Taster Lecture | This lecture is open to anyone interested in the project and will give you an overview and introduce you to the daily supervising team. Some research topics in the field of autonomous systems will be presented and discussed. Naturally, you will also get the opportunity to ask questions before applying. No recordings will be made and it will be in person only. |
January 27th 13:00 2025 | Application Deadline | Throughout January you will be able to apply for the ASE project. Application information |
February 2025, exact date TBA | Research Topic Confirmation | Admissions are confirmed and admitted students will meet with the ASE team to confirm their research topic and discuss the start of the project. After this point, the project really begins with literature studies and research. |
~April 2025 | Research and Literature Studies | We will kick off the project in April. You will be introduced to the ASE/Rover platform. This time is used to familiarize yourself with the software and hardware side of things and to commence your research. |
~May 2025 | Development and Testing | You will be working on your research project and start developing your own (part of an) autonomous system. You will be able to test your system on the ASE/Rover platform. As a group you will start writing first drafts of your thesis with feedback from supervisors. |
May 2025, Exact Date TBA | Progress Presentation | The main goal of this presentation is to give you the chance to practice your public speaking skills. It is less about what you present, but more about how you present it. You will receive plenty of guidance and tips on how to present as well as feedback after the presentation. This will prepare you for the final thesis presentation. |
June-July 2025 | Thesis Roundup | Time to get your final thesis report ready for submission and to finalize testing on the Rover. You are expected to present your work and demo your work to the group and friends and family. The deadlines and presentation dates are set in stone and non-negotiable. July-August 2025 | Submission and Grading | Your first readers will grade your thesis the time when you will receive your results are also dependent on the schedules of your first reader. You will be notified of the results by email. |
